“Infinite”

The annual ‘SVA Graduation Show 2003’ will be held from 14-18 May
at the Singapore Expo. The theme for this year’s Show is ‘Infinite’ -
a celebration of the School’s myriad aspirations, boundless energy and unlimited achievements. Over 1,000 pieces of works by 316 diploma graduates of the Fine Art, Interior Design, Multimedia and Visual Communication Departments will be exhibited. The exhibition will also showcase the artwork of Visual Communication Department’s first cohort of 21 diploma graduates majoring in Photography and 17 diploma graduates majoring in Jewellery, and the fifth cohort of BA Design degree graduates.

Many of these graduates have received top honours and notable mentions in major art and design competitions, including the Jill Sackler Cup Chinese Calligraphy Competition (China), Nokia Art(s) Awards, Art Against AIDS, Nippon Paint Colour My World Competition, Comgraph, NAC-NYP Animation Fest, the 4A’s Student Creative Awards and Packaging Design Star Awards.

Invited guests can also expect a grand opening ceremony on 14 May 2003 which will feature a fusion of dance and multimedia - another cross-disciplinary collaboration between visual and performing arts. The ‘Guest-of-Honour Souvenir’, specially designed by the School of Visual Arts, will also be launched for the first time. Specially designed costume jewellery by the graduates will also be given out. Another highlight of the opening is the ‘Best Display Awards’ prize presentation, which will honour five graduates for their best creative efforts in displaying their works in a confined space. There will also be a public talk entitled ‘Honours Degree @ NAFA – Developing Your Creative Potential’ on 17 May 2003.
